In May 2023 the Midlands Engine published a report, Exploring the investment potential of Midlands clusters alongside a technical appendix. The project was developed to highlight productive concentrations of related business activity in the Midlands pan-region to present the region’s most significant opportunities, building on what the wider partnership prioritised through local industrial strategies and other economic plans.

In support of the project, the Observatory – delivered by The EIU - provided significant analytical resource to provide and supplement data, research, insights and mapping. This resulted in a number of cluster snapshots which are available below:
